Aim of Unit 47 Business Intelligence

Relevant data or information is a core aspect of the business process. It works as a driving factor in developing effective problem-solving and decision-making processes. By having technology development, the business intelligence system has evolved over the years. Various concepts such as data mining, data quality, data integration, and other management application would be mentioned in the study. This unit would introduce different techniques, tools and technologies to acquire and process data as per the company’s requirement. The impact of the business intelligence system upon organization decision-making would be analyzed. Apart from that, it would also discuss the significance of business intelligence as well as the use of different techniques and tools in ground operations.

LO1 Discuss business processes and the mechanisms used to support business decision-making

In this part, different models regarding business processes, mechanisms and processes would be evaluated. Students would understand several terms or concepts such as data capture and input, data conversion, security considerations, semi, and unstructured data. Apart from these, different systems of technologies would be compared with the business intelligence system. Different application software and database system would be investigated. Several business processes like sales, marketing and purchasing operation, supporting problem-solving and decision-making system, technical support functions, forecasting as well as predictive reasoning would be analyzed.

LO2 Compare the tools and technologies associated with business intelligence functionality

In this section, ideal comparisons between tools or technologies would be generated briefly. Intelligence functionality, as well as different business technologies, would be evaluated further. Within the business decision support, different operational and tactical strategies would be developed. Decisions would include the setting of goals, future forecasting, and defining priorities. In this section, different issues regarding social, ethical, legal and professional would be recognised as far as business technology is concerned. Different cyber-security management systems and evaluation criteria would be discussed as well in which the use of tools in legal and organizational context along with different risks would be discussed. Different benefits such as higher productivity, profitability, improved consumer service and moe would be evaluated in the end.
